Woke this morning in Swan Hill to a temperature of 3.8 degrees and amazing blue skies and as we had our breakfast we heard the news of snow on Mt. Dandenong and other reports of hail and extremely cold weather in Melbourne which made us feel so very pleased that we had left all that behind. Travelled 245 kms to Wentworth where we booked into Willow Bend Caravan Park. Lovely park at the confluence of the Murray and Darling Rivers, Australia's two largest rivers. After settling in we had a visit from my friend from school days back in the 50's, Lois, who lives on a small farm close by in Merbein. It was great to catch up with her and John having last seen them about 4 years ago.
Later in the day we drove around the township stopping at several points of interest to soak up the history of Wentworth, including the Wentworth Gaol and the Wentworth Lock. The Murray River here is wider than the Mississippi!
It has been suggested to us that we give our caravan a name by our dear friend Amy in St.Louis, U.S.A. She said we must choose "a cool, hip name" for our special R.V. lady. After some consideration we have decided to call her CALINDA named after John's favourite character in the Good Wife series on television because she reflects all that is our van. She is sleek, curvy, and accommodates both males and females!
Had a lovely dinner tonight at the Wentworth Services Club before returning to the van to crank up the heating as is is going to be a very cold night.
