Left Dales overflow campground very early and the morning was sunny but quite cool with a heavy dew. Our drive to Tom Price took us through the beautiful Hamersley Ranges of the Pilbara and they were continually changing shape and colour. Mt. Bruce reminded us very much of Uluru only with a little bit tacked on one end! It appeared to be standing proudly alone.
Our journey to Tom Price took about one and a half hours and on our arrival we immediately went to the Visitors Information Centre to enquire about booking a Mine Tour. Unfortunately we had just missed the only tour for the day but decided to book for tomorrow’s tour 12 noon.
We then found our way to the only caravan park in town, the Tom Price Tourist Park, just a short distance out of the township. We scored a very good site and after setting up drove back to explore the township. It is a very pretty, well cared for town. Some lovely maintained public gardens, a very small but colourful shopping centre, 2 schools, Pre-school/Daycare centre, a very well maintained Football/Cricket complex complete with a very modern pavilion, a swimming pool, and surprise, surprise a very nice Baseball complex. The town seemed to us to be full of young families with the male figure no doubt employed in someway in the mining industry.
Had a very quiet and lazy afternoon and retired to bed early.

The town centre was beautiful and the gardens around the town were very well cared for. |

A stop along the way. Rest areas like this were common. |
